Lawyers for Liberty will participate and be on Standby for Tomorrow’s ‘Blackout505 Suara Rakyat Suara Keramat’ rally.
Lawyers for Liberty fully supports and will be participating in the ‘Blackout505 Suara Rakyat Suara Keramat’ rally at Padang Merbok tomorrow, on the 22nd of June 2013.
We urge the Police to ensure that the citizens are accorded with their full rights under the Federal Constitution to assemble peacefully.
However based on our previous experiences with mass rallies and the lack of clear guarantee from the authorities we anticipate possible arrests, detention and other forms of human rights abuse during the rally.
We will be working with other NGOs to provide legal advice to the organisers and participants, if and when is needed.
