The Government will “look into” a statement by the Conference of Rulers that some provisions of the National Security Council Bill 2015 should be refined.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, who had briefed the 240th meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara on the Bill on Tuesday, told Sin Chew Daily that he would look into the statement by the Rulers.
The Conference of Rulers had issued a statement saying that it was of the view that some provisions of the Bill should be refined.
The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, as chairman of the meeting, would write to the Prime Minister on the matter, said the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he was aware of the statement by the Conference of Rulers.
Najib said the legislation did not at all usurp the powers of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and was aimed at tackling security threats.
